2019 Bourbon County Stout Variants To Expect

Those chilly and breath-takingly cold holiday months are inching closer and closer. With them, however, come several amazing beer releases. Browsing Goose Island’s list of beers on Untappd, it appears there have been a few new additions to the lineup, and even a few lucky Untappers who already checked in!

There’s no doubt that the Original, Vanilla, and Properietor’s Bourbon County Stouts are all coming back. But what else will we see this year? Let’s get a glance of the 2019 lineup so far.

Note: Chicago Tribune has a great scoop on a few potential new variants, although they reported that one of them could have been forged. The beers noted here are taken from Goose Island's own Untappd account, so enjoy!

Bourbon County Brand Mon Cheri Stout

The Mon Cheri variant is brand new to this year's lineup. Description has the juicy details:

“Stout aged in bourbon barrels with cherries, granola, oats, brown sugar, and 100% natural flavor added.”

Bourbon County Reserve Rye

Second new variant is the signature BCBS aged in Rye Whiskey barrels.

“Imperial stout aged in barrels that previously held Heaven Hill Rittenhouse Rye whisky”

Bourbon County Brand Irish-Style Coffee Stout

This is a big one for all you Jameson fans. If you thought that aging the base stout in Irish whiskey barrels is cool, they then aged with coffee and lactose! Apparently there are already check-ins into this beer by some lucky Untappers.

Bourbon County Brand Wheatwine

There isn’t much description on this one, but it’s coming back from years before. Lots of malty, sweet, and caramel-tasting deliciousness coming your way. This is last year's description

“Made from two row and malted wheat, Bourbon County Brand Wheatwine debuts this year. As the first recipe to veer from the original Imperial Stout since Barleywine in 2013, Wheatwine displays a deep amber color, lighter than its counterparts and acts a true medium to convey the characteristics of our 4+ year old Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels. Wheatwine overflows with flavors of caramel, vanilla, butterscotch, and toffee.”

The new stouts will weigh in at 15.4%, up from last year’s 15.2%. Is anyone else already planning their trip to the stores on Black Friday? Don’t forget to bring a hat, gloves, and something to share with your fellow beer nerds standing in line.
